How about enjoying a different Sunday, fun and free?
Here, in Ceará, we have a beautiful Botanical Park located 15km from Fortaleza. You get there going through the José Aragão and Albuquerque road, better known as CE 090, near of the Federal Police Station (located at the beginning of the state highway Ce 085, better known like “estruturante”), towards the beaches of the West coast.
On Sundays, including holidays, the “Projeto Viva o Parque”, a partnership between the Secretariat of the Environment and the Government of the State of Ceará, carries out several activities in the Botanical Park of Ceará.

HOW TO GET AND WHEN TO GO
Unfortunately, bus access is bad because you will need to take a bus coming from Icaraí or going to Caucaia, get off at the Police Station and walk a few meters to the Park.
It’s better you use a private car or to rent a vehicle. Do not worry about parking, there is an excellent parking space.
The Botanical Park of Ceará works from Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., however the activities of “Projeto Viva o Parque” take place only on Sundays, including holidays (what a great news! 😉 ).
If you go to Icaraí, Cumbuco, Cauípe, Tabuba and Banana Lagoon on weekdays, you can go to the Park to get to know it, because on weekdays it is possible to pick some plants by CPF ( Brasilian document), visit the garden of medicinal plants and the seedlings nursery.
ACTIVITIES OF “PROJETO VIVA O PARQUE”
Sunday is an excellent day for you to take your child and your family to visit the Botanical Park of Ceará, because there are a bunch of activities there from ballroom dancing, “zumba”, “biodanca”, yoga, massage therapy, guided tours, cultural presentations for children, delivery of seedlings of selected plants.

You may ask me, but how much does it cost? I tell you: N-O-T-H-I-N-G, nothing! 😀
That’s it! The program offered by the Project is completely free, including mineral water in drinking glasses during and after activities.
The park has toilets and canteen, as well as beautiful designs on the walls to take pictures and use the imagination.
Beautiful art
The trail is a walk of 1600m (round trip), approximately 30min. During the guided trail, we obtain information about the local fauna and flora. At the end of this, there is a water mirror with two kiosks for those who want to make a picnic.

DISADVANTAGE
The only disadvantage is the access to the park by public transport, but this should not be a problem for you to know the Botanical Park, because the access road is well maintained and has good signage.
